Have you ever wondered which animal’s tracks you might have spotted on a snowy day? Perhaps you can recognize a hare’s bounding leaps, but what other animals the forest might reveal? On this snowshoe trek, we’ll delve into the mysteries left behind by forest animals: pawprints, feathers, wing marks, and other signs of wildlife. We’ll wander quietly through forests, pondering who might have been here before us.
Schedule and bookings
The trek is part of Koli’s weekly program on December 31st from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and on Tuesdays in February and March from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. What can you expect on this treck
A walk through a snowy forest unveils hidden stories of the wild – animal tracks that reveal their movements and habits. Many wonder how seeing a predator’s tracks is always awe-inspiring. Yet, even finding the tiniest tracks of smaller animals can be equally thrilling. During this guided excursion, we’ll uncover the secrets of animal tracks and learn to interpret the winter forest’s language.
Weather conditions play a significant role in the number and clarity of tracks we may find, but in this area, I’ve encountered tracks from creatures ranging from mice to wolverines during previous winters. We’ll move at a relaxed pace with snowshoes, partly along paths but also off-trail, exploring the untouched snow where animals roam. Midway through the trek, we’ll enjoy a warm cup of blackcurrant juice and some cookies to recharge.

While fresh powdery snow may make walking a bit more challenging, we’ll keep a steady, comfortable pace and adjust as needed to ensure everyone enjoys the experience. For the youngest children, the trek might be too demanding, but feel free to ask about a tailored family experience – we’re happy to adjust the pace to match the smallest steps.
